The Story:
In the bustling streets of post-war Paris, honest street vendor Prosper Bourrache (Roger Nicolas), gifted with the silver tongue of a born salesman, finds himself in hot water when bumbling gangsters Moustique and Gino (Louis de Funès) mistake him for a master safecracker and whisk him away in their getaway car for a daring burglary, too terrified to correct their error.
The target is the opulent mansion of corrupt banker Lafare (Jean Tissier), but unbeknownst to the hapless crooks, the whole scheme is an elaborate trap set by the financier’s own shady dealings; as chaos ensues during the heist, Prosper’s quick wits become their unlikely salvation amidst double-crosses and narrow escapes.
With laughter, romance, and triumphant justice, watch as Prosper not only exposes the crooked banker and his gang to the authorities but also plays cupid for thwarted young lovers, emerging unscathed to claim the heart of a beautiful woman—be she Lafare’s glamorous girlfriend or his own true love—leading to a joyous wedding under the stars of France.
