Michael Reeves

Michael Reeves (1945–1969, United Kingdom) was a British film director and screenwriter active in the late 1960s. He gained recognition for his horror films, including *The Sorcerers* (1967) and *Witchfinder General* (1968), which are noted for their atmospheric style and social commentary on violence and fanaticism. Reeves’s career was cut short by his accidental death from a barbiturate overdose at age 24, leaving him as a cult figure in British cinema history.
